Today, mortgage bankers account for more than half of the residential mortgage loan originations nationally. This is also true of New York’s mortgage bankers.
There are well over 300 licensed mortgage bankers in the New York State. Organized in 1983, the Empire State Mortgage Bankers Association (ESMBA) is the only state-wide organization that represents the interests of those mortgage bankers. The Association promotes public education, high ethical standards, sound business practices, and cooperation among legislators, regulators and other members of the industry.
